At-least DS4 uses bluetooth and maybe it has some input lag relative other controllers when hooked up wirelessly at-least. I don't know whatever my software works with the DS4, I know others do and yes using those the DS3 works with the PC. Also my such identification was done when using InputMapper if that make a difference, I think the program launched was a Microsoft one though.

I also connect it wirelessly with a $4.5 bluetooth dongle from DX, I had to try to hook it together lots of times before it was willing to connect, but I've never owned a Sony Playstation so I also have no idea how to actually handle the controller to tell it to identify itself I guess. I have the DS4 and use that with DS4Windows but InputMapper also work, I feel DS4Windows work better but maybe the other have more functionality?

If you have a wired option, simply plug it into a USB port on your PC, and you should be good to go. In the meantime, Windows 10 is optimized to recognize Xbox controllers.
